Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Back to Albany and back to my blog!

Hi Everyone!  It’s been a little while since my last blog from DC, but it’s good to be posting again.  To everyone that followed my blog this past summer, thanks for coming back this fall!  You can expect posts from me every Thursday this semester.  I’ll be writing about classes, my responsibilities on campus and my internship with NYSID, Preferred Source Solutions.  This semester is turning out to be one of my busiest to date!  I’m really excited though because this is my senior year!  As of May 2013, I should have my MBA from The College of Saint Rose…crazy!

Delta Mu Delta Induction with the chapter advisor, Dr. Finn

In addition to finishing up the dual degree BS/MBA program here at school, I am also a Resident Assistant on campus in Alumni Hall. This is my third year as an RA, but the first time that I’ve had co-ed residents.  I definitely lucked out because they are great; last night we had a floor program and 65 residents attended! Outside of Res Life, I am an academic tutor on campus.  I’m also  serving my last term as Treasurer of the Student Alumni Association and my first term as President of Delta Mu Delta (the International Honor Society in Business). Holding these positions and having these commitments has helped me meet a lot of students on campus.  The weeks certainly get busy, but I enjoy it!

Me at the office!

I started my internship with NYSID last week.  I am working with the Marketing Department and the Business Development Team.  Some things I will do this semester are: investigate demand for specific products and services among state and local government agencies, collect bid and award data, data entry, and explore capabilities and requirements for new products and services.  Today, I will be attending UAlbany’s Career Fair to assist my supervisor, Brian, in promoting NYSID.  Next Wednesday, I will be attending a marketing conference in Utica.  Then on Thursday of next week, Brian is taking me on a tour of one of NYSID’s member agencies.  I am really impressed by the level of involvement that I will have with this internship.  Not only am I doing computer work and research, but I am getting the chance to experience things outside of the office.  I will be with NYSID every Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30-4:30.  This works out  great since I only have classes Monday and Tuesday!

Well, hopefully that catches you up for now!

Have a great rest of the week and remember to check back next Thursday!
