Advisement Day

It may seem random to have a Tuesday off in the middle of the semester, but it is one of the most important days of the semester. On advisement day, we do not have classes so that we can meet with our advisers and plan for what the next semester will bring.

How do I get an assigned adviser?
Your adviser is a faculty or staff member within your major. They know exactly what you have to take and in what order, so that you do not run into any issues with prerequisites. They are the people that guide you through picking classes and help you make sure that graduation falls when you intend it to.

Why do I have to meet with them?
Quite frankly, it’s required. If you do not go to a meeting to discuss your plans for next semester’s classes, you won’t get your alternate pin. This is used to log into bannerweb at your allotted time to register.

Why do I have to wait for a certain time?
Your time is assigned based on credits. This is basically so that rising seniors get first pick, then juniors, etc. You will find that there are a couple of popular courses that will go quickly, so always make sure you have a couple of back ups that will fit with your schedule!
