Alumni Chat: Danielle Moore G’97

Danielle Moore will be representing The College of Saint Rose at the Atlanta National College Fair on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Danielle is one of the many Alumni in Admissions volunteers that are helping Saint Rose expand our student population and geographic reach.

Danielle M. (Petteys) Moore, M. S. Ed, CCC-SLP is  a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist and  Clinical Director of The Language Group. The Language Group was founded in 1999 and Danielle opened her third office location  in 2013. She currently manages all 3 offices in the greater Atlanta area.

She received a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1995 in Speech and Language Pathology with a minor concentration in English Literature. She received her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences and her Teacher Certificate for the Speech and Hearing Handicapped in 1997 from The College of Saint Rose.  She is a current member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.  She has worked in both public and private schools in New York and Georgia as well as in the private practice sector.

1.  What attracted you to Saint Rose?

I was ready to return home to the Capital District after 4 years of being near snowy Rochester, New York.  I knew that the opportunities for more diverse internships and student placement choices would be more desirable in the Capital District area.  Being in our State’s capital, there is always so much going on- with festivals and concerts, and always great shopping and new places to try for eating out and socializing with friends.

2. What was your favorite place to visit off-campus?

The Gingerman on Western Avenue was always a place that graduate students went to celebrate and unwind.

3. What was one of the most memorable traditions on campus when you were a student?

Cheering on the basketball team!

4. What did you do in your free time while you were in college?

In my free time, I enjoyed playing tennis and working out near campus with other students. I am still great friends with one of my tennis partners, Laura Lynch-Krosky.  I sang in her wedding ceremony after we graduated and now our families are very close, even though I live in Atlanta and she’s still in the Capital Region. We vacation with the Krosky’s every year and my daughter wants to go to Disney with Laura’s daughter Marisa and her son Mason very soon!  The College of Saint Rose provided me with the opportunity to make lifelong friendships. I count Laura as my closest friend.

5. What is one of your greatest accomplishments since graduation?

I am a Speech and Language Pathologist and I have my own clinical practice in the Atlanta area, The Language Group.

6. If you could give one piece of advice to a current student – what would it be?”

Enjoy every moment of your college experience- it goes so quickly!

7. What is a random fun fact that you would like to share?

I am one of the founding member singers in Our Song Atlanta, and was a featured soloist in Montreal for the Festival of Choruses in 2004. She has sung at Libby’s: A Cabaret and currently sings with Atlanta’s newest chorus, the Atlanta Women’s Chorus. 

8. Any professors you would like to send a shout-out to?

I credit the amazing professors, and the guidance at The Winkler Center, especially Dr. Mark Ylvisaker and Dr. Kathleen Whitmire in that department for so much of my success. I am so proud of that department.
