This year the CAC committee hopes to have the largest Relay for Life event that The College of Saint Rose has ever seen. Within CAC there are subcommittees, one of them being the Advocacy Committee. Formerly leading the Advocacy Committee was Olivia Deck, who came up with the idea of partnering with Pantene Beautiful Lengths to break the world record for most hair donated in 24 hours. The goal is to collect 900 ponytails to break the current record of 107.4 lbs collected by Pantene Beautiful Lengths from the Mississippi Institute for Aesthetics, Nail and Cosmetology in Clinton, Mississippi in May 2007. Pantene partners with the American Cancer Society on collecting donated hair to create free real-hair wigs for women with cancer. Taking over the event for Olivia is Daniela Cunsolo and Mathew Vincent who are currently working to promote the event and generate interest. You can get more information about the event from visiting the Capital District Cuts off Cancer Facebook page or the College of Saint Rose Relay for Life Facebook page.

Colleges Against Cancer meets weekly on Wednesdays at 8pm in Science Center 369. New members are always welcome!
