Most memorable moment or game: “All my home games in my senior year of high school at our home gym. The crowd was incredible and the energy was great. Nothing meant more to me than being out on the floor with my team, playing in front of all my mates.”

What set SR apart from other schools:
“The size of the school, the academic programs and the family feel of the college were all key factors in choosing to study here. I also felt that upstate New York would suit my personality and be a great place for new opportunities and experiences.”

Why SR Basketball:
“I was obviously an international recruit, and was lucky enough to have a lot of institutions reach out to me. Saint Rose stood out because their approach was personal. They made their focus on what I could bring to the program on and off the court, and showed great interest in my academics. From a basketball perspective, Saint Rose is part of the NE-10, which is widely considered the toughest Division II conference in the nation. I felt that playing in high-level competition was a great opportunity to improve as a player and potentially be a part of a successful team.” How you got involved: “When I was eleven I would go and watch my brother’s under-8 basketball games. I didn’t want to be the older brother who didn’t play any sports, so after watching my brother play each week I signed up midway through the season. Dad grew up playing tennis and volleyball and my mom has always been an eager sports fan, so both my parents always encouraged playing sports as a way of having a balanced lifestyle.”

My Comments/ takeaway from the interview: Julian is a very kind-hearted caring person. Whenever he’s playing the sport he loves, he’s playing for the benefit of his team and working hard every time he steps on the court to be a better ball player and teammate. “This year has been a learning curve year and we’ve come a long way as a group and built good chemistry as a team. Unfortunately losing our head coach at the start of the season was a big adjustment that we all had to make; however the assistant coaches have done a phenomenal job in making us feel comfortable and making it a seamless transition. I feel good about the pieces we have on the team and going forward I am excited because we have high goals and a great coaching staff,” Lipinski said. Julian is a very approachable young man and a very valuable addition to the Saint Rose family. During my interview with Lipinski, I felt a very direct and honest feeling when talking to him. He’s not just here for basketball, but academics too and he shows tremendous effort in both areas. With the type of character and charisma Julian already has, I can’t wait to see his growth and development in the future.
