Sport: Softball (outfield)
Hometown:
New Rochelle, NY
Class Year:
2015
Major:  Criminal justice
Favorite study spot:
My room laying on my bed.
Favorite food: Crispy chicken honey mustard snack wrap
One Interesting Fact about yourself: I’ve been to France because my cousin got married there.

Most memorable moment or game: “It was actually this year when I hit my first over the fence homerun. It was April 1st vs. LeMoyne. I had a really good overall game and we also won.”

What set SR apart from other schools: “It was small which I really liked because I came from a small school. The student-to-teacher ratio was small. I liked how the campus was small and everything was so close together.”

Why SR Softball:
“I walked on the team actually. We (twin sister Marisa) kept in touch with the coach and let her know of our interest. The sports complex was very nice when we visited here. I also liked that it was Division II competition.”

How you got involved:
“I was about five when I first started playing t-ball with my sister (Marisa). I just loved playing t-ball. We also did travel ball and just grew a natural love for softball. We played for our school as well. My father was also a wrestler. I also have two younger twin sisters (Anna and Sophie) who play volleyball.”

How do you prepare before a game: “I wake up early the day of a game. I always eat breakfast the morning of our games. I also listen to EDM (electronic dance music) to get pumped up for a game.”

My Comments/ takeaway from the interview: Kari is a proud soon-to-be graduate of The College of Saint Rose. She will receive her bachelor’s in criminal justice. “The program here (softball) has definitely improved throughout the years I’ve been here. Our current Coach (Abby) puts a lot of effort in the team and it’s beginning to show. I’m happy the last few years with the progress we’ve made. For the future, even though I won’t be here, I’m looking forward to keeping up with the progress of the team. I feel it can only improve,” K. Bird had to say. “The Players are motivated during games and practices. They’re not scared to tell me what I’m doing wrong or help if I’m struggling. They’re basically like my sisters. We have each other’s back no matter what,” K. Bird said on her teammates. She is a motivator and tremendous talent for the team. Her work ethic is not questionable because she always gives it her all on the field. She knows the game of softball inside and out. I believe Kari will see a lot of success this season and once she graduates. Her character and personality will be missed. She is a heartwarming and overall a wonderful person who will be missed once she leaves.  My interview was a very nice and funny time. It didn’t feel like an interview, it felt like friends just hanging out. It was great being around her and I can’t wait to see how successful she is. She’s a huge competitor and I wish her all the luck going forward in anything she pursues!
