Greetings from The Last Frontier!

Hello Everyone!

I’m Priscilla and I recently finished my sophomore year at Saint Rose. For ten weeks of my summer, I will be in Juneau, Alaska, interning at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. I am lucky to be able to experience this due to the Project 70 opportunity and the Office of Alumni Relations on campus. Project 70 is a scholarship/internship gift initiative started by the Class of 1970 in honor of their 35^th reunion. The goal of Project 70 is to take advantage of alumni business connections in New York City, Boston, and other large cities in the U.S. (like Juneau!) and around the globe. Project 70 provides an annual internship to open doors outside of the Capital Region, providing new and exciting opportunities for Saint Rose students. As many of you may remember Emily Gydesen posting last summer about her internship in Washington D.C. She was in fact the first Project 70 internship recipient to contribute to Saint Rose’s blog!

While I am working at the museum, I will be able to get my hands on a plethora of projects. Since the city museum is small, I am going to be able to dabble in most of the happenings that help run the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. I started my internship on Monday, June 3. So far, I have had the chance to complete a few projects with the Curator of Collections & Exhibits (shout-out to Jodi!), sit at the front counter and greet visitors, make sales from the gift shop, do facility checks, sit through and participate in a staff meeting, and contribute a small portion to a procedural manual (after going a little wild inserting numerous screenshots–you’re welcome, future intern). I’m truly ecstatic to be in the breathtakingly beautiful Juneau and have a part in sharing the culture and history of this place by working at the museum.
