Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Hello :-)

Half way through sophomore year, say it aint so!

In the Nolan Gymnasium supporting the men’s basketball team. Go Golden Knights!

Hello Saint Rose blog world! My name is Lolita Avila and I am a sophomore at The College of Saint Rose. I am majoring in communication and I also have a minor in Spanish. I am originally from Brooklyn, and am definitely a city girl. Coming to Saint Rose was a huge leap for me, but I think I adjusted well. Now, I can not believe how fast my college career is going! I feel like I was just a freshmen living in Brubacher Hall. Now, I am already four weeks into my second semester of my second year.

Classes  have already been getting overwhelming but I am prepared for the challenge.  This year I plan on taking on a bunch of new challenges too. My goal is to get involved more on campus because I refuse to miss out on anything! I have recently joined the student newspaper, The Chronicle. This Thursday, I will be volunteering with other Knights of Service members at the St. Anne’s Institute. St. Anne’s is a non-profit organization that prides itself in improving the mental, emotional, and well being of children. We will be holding a sex education program with the teenage girls.  I am also preparing to be in the Spectrum fashion show, so you can catch me ‘voguing’ in St.Joes on Saturday, February 22nd.  Along with being a RA on campus, I have a lot on my plate…but YOLO (You only live once). I might as well enjoy every bit of my college life. 🙂

Thanks for reading!
