Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Meet the grad assistants-Career Center style!

Ever wonder who’s behind all the genius of The College of Saint Rose Career Center on the third floor of Saint Joe’s? Well, in this installment of my blog, we’ll be featuring a different staff member each time.

Meet Career Center Graduate Assistant, Jennifer Villalobos, who was a Sports Psychology undergraduate major at California State University in Long Beach. She is now in the College Student Services Administration Graduate Program here, and when asked about what finalized her decision to attend Saint Rose, she replied, “The internship component, GA availability, and change of scenery.” Jennifer also commented that one of her favorite parts about being a grad assistant was getting “to learn more about the employers in the Albany area” because she is from out of state.

Jennifer wants to work in the DC area for a Division I university as an athletic advisor for student-athletes. When asked to give advice to students who want to follow a similar career path, Jennifer replied, “I would advise them not to be afraid to pursue something you are passionate about, since the field can often times be demanding. Finding a job can be tricky, but all the resources you need are within your reach! Talk to your professors, join associations, and NETWORK! Visiting the Career Center to put together a stellar resume wouldn’t hurt your chances either!”

And her favorite animal? A penguin!
