My First Dance-A-Thon Event!

“He who does not travel, who does not read, who does not listen to music, who does not find grace in himself, she who does not find grace in herself, dies slowly…”

These wise words said by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda have always inspired me along my journey through life. I wanted to do anything in order to keep life exciting. That’s why I decided to travel, move here, leave my country (Egypt), and come here to The College of Saint Rose. Indeed, it was hard at the beginning, but I found out that everyone was very helpful and really kind.

There have been so many interesting activities on campus. This weekend, the Golden Knights Dance Team organized their 2nd Annual GK Dance-A-Thon fundraiser event. The event started on Friday at 6 pm and ended Saturday at 6 am. I had never heard of a dance-a-thon before so it was a new experience for me and I liked that they had a theme for each hour. For example, they had a Beyoncé hour, country music hour…etc and  at midnight, they organized a rave theme! They also had free delicious homemade food prepared by the team members. It was all a new experience for me, seeing that people my age could organize such a successful fundraising event.

My friends and I enjoyed the dance-a-thon and helped the dance team to fundraise for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and for the dance team itself. It was a great opportunity to get to know new people and cherish the weekend.
