Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

MyWeek, Edition 1: Rohit Ahuja

It feels like yesterday that I was a freshman, walking through Lima 2, trying to peek into open doors, make friends and find my ‘clique.’ Now, a year later, I am the Resident Assistant on the same floor. It has been quite a journey, but it has been a true learning experience.

I have decided that from this semester on, all of my posts are going to be a journal, a peek into how and what life is making me do. So fasten your seatbelt, and get ready to board the Saint Rose airways (I couldn’t help it)!  If you have just recently become a member of the Saint Rose family, WELCOME! If you’ve been here before, WELCOME BACK! I hope everyone enjoyed this past summer, made memories and went to the beach a lot. I know I did. Now that you have settled in and gotten a hang of the place, I am sure I am going to be seeing a lot of the freshmen around.

This blog post is going to be about my first few weeks back here. The semester kicked off with a lot of excitement and buzz with the move in day. I got to meet a lot of new people and their families. Had my first floor meeting (which was quite an experience), bonded with my residents and other RAs over TV shows, got swamped with schoolwork and instantly wanted to be 3 again to avoid school, and pretty much had events that I enjoyed very much.

Reach Out Saint Rose was the highlight of my week. Having never been before, I enjoyed it to the fullest. My floor and I (LIMAA 2) went to Avillage (Check out the good stuff they are doing here), a community organization down south of Albany. We were told we would be cleaning parking lots, however we ended up dancing Zumba for a good two hours and playing football right after. It was a party and we helped the community out as well which was the icing on the cake. We met this amazing person who runs Avillage named Willy and he was by far the most enthusiastic people person I have ever met!

That was my week in a nutshell. If you want to share your week with us, feel free to contact me at ahujar134@strose.edu and we can collaborate to feature YOUR week on our blog page!

Until next time,

Rohit Out.
