Many people are unaware of the resources available when it comes to searching for a job. In October, the Career Center at The College of Saint Rose had Courtney Myers, Audience Development Director for the Business Review speak to our team. The Business Review is a magazine that covers stories about businesses in the city of your choice. The Business Review has forty-three magazines/markets to choose from when it comes to picking a city you are interested in working close to. The Business Review is subscribed to by the Career Center and is always available for students to look through in the Resource Room. Along with a hard copy of the magazine, the Business Review has a website, which I have listed below for the city of Albany.

The Business Review also publishes a ‘Book of Lists’ for each of its forty-three markets. The Book of Lists is valuable because it gives lists of the top ranking businesses and employers by industry. Along with this list comes, the contact person’s name, phone number, and e-mail address. The Book of Lists is a great place to search for companies around the area that fit the job description you are looking for.
Overall, the Business Review is a way to identify companies and the latest things going on within them. The Business Review and the Book of Lists are both great resources to use when it comes to searching for a job. These can both be found on the 3rd floor of St. Joe’s Hall in the Resource Room of the Career Center.
