Pro Staff Bio- Marinel

Marinel is a Brooklyn, NY native. She received her Bachelors of Arts(Spanish)  and Masters of Science(Education Administration) at the University at Albany. Marinel is now one of the newest Area Coordinators for our department. Marinel oversees some of the Upperclassmen. She likes to dance, swim, do community service and travel. Marinel’s message to students at the college would be to find their passion. Find something that fuels you and hone into that energy and make it positive.  This part of your life is a journey and overcoming obstacles is what life is about. So think about the legacy you want to leave on campus and in the community. What do you do for others and how are you a role model?

“The Residence Life Staff consists of the Director, an Assistant Director, four Area Coordinators, a Graduate Assistant, an Administrative Secretary and over 40 paraprofessional Resident Assistants (RAs). The Director of Residence Life has overall responsibility for the Office of Residence Life while each member of the Professional Staff has individual and specific tasks that assist in supporting the Residence Life Program. The Director supervises the other members of the professional staff. The Assistant Director is mainly responsible for all facilities and operational pieces within Residence Life.

The Area Coordinators supervise a staff of approximately eleven to twelve Resident Assistants and are on-call for crisis intervention on campus year round (there is an Area Coordinator on-call at all times). They act as Student Conduct Officers and serve on a variety of campus-wide committees as well as work on special projects for the Office of Residence Life.” More information about Reslife can be found here: http://www.strose.edu/campuslife/residence_life/meetourstaff.
