mz2

Where else have you been employed?

SCCC (Schenectady County Community College)

Bryant and Stratton College in Rochester, NY

Did you always want to teach?

I’ve always enjoyed teaching. My utter love of teaching really struck me in grad school in the middle of an organic chemistry lab while working through a mechanism in four colors of dry erase marker on a fume hood while a reaction was refluxing. I knew I wanted to teach at the undergraduate level from that moment.

What is the highlight of your academic career thus far?

Every moment I get to interact with students, whether it’s lecturing or an impromptu gathering in my office or lab to talk about a challenging concept. I love it all. The moments that lead to interpretive dance or strange food metaphors are the best.

What’s your favorite color?

Sage green or dark blue-green.

Favorite places to eat in the Capital Region?

Sushi X in Latham, Carmen’s and Illium Cafe in Troy.

Favorite TV shows?

Fringe, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Star Trek TNG.

What is the last book you read?

I recently read all 15 of the Dresden Files. I followed them up with Wild by Cheryl Strayed.

If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?

Hmmm. Super speed, probably.

Fun Facts/Bonus Thoughts?!

I knit very frequently and even spin my own yarn sometimes. My favorite way to stay active is to do CrossFit. I’ve been doing it for 3 years now.

What do you think?
