Stressing Out? A Few Ways to Relax!

Hey everyone! I’m so sorry for the lack of and update last week- I was swamped with work. That being said,  I hope you all are having a much better week than I am. I am super stressed due to procrastination reasons (surprise, surprise!), and the fact that the semester’s quickly winding down. Exactly 2 weeks left!… not that I’m counting or anything absurd like that….

Anyway! As I’m sure most of you are just as stressed as I am, I’d like to tell you a few ways that I like to distress myself after a long week of just plain ‘ole boring work.

One thing I absolutely love doing is yoga! Unfortunately, as the semester is coming to a close, yoga will only be available 3 more times this semester. If you’re wondering where they have it free on campus, I’ll tell you where! The Hubbard Interfaith Sanctuary (this is the link to their facebook! become friends with them! :D) holds yoga classes two days a week at various times: Monday at 5:15, and Tuesday from 12-1 and 8-9:15. If you’re interested, try to go to one! Another thing that I know helps a lot of people destress is guided meditation, which the Sanctuary also holds!

If you’ve tried yoga (or guided mediation), and it’s just not for you (which is totally understandable- it’s not for everyone!), then I also love to go on walks to distress. The Albany air might not be the cleanest, but it sure is refreshing when you spend a whopping 3+ hours in either the Library or Lima Lab everyday. Washington Park is absolutely beautiful, and I highly suggest going there sometimes! If you go by yourself, be on guard. It’s beautiful, but sketchy. I’m just going to say use the buddy system the first few times before you venture there on your own. Get to know the park first.

If you’re still feeling stressed after the park, take a walk on Lark Street and head to the Daily Grind. It is the cutest coffee house I’ve ever been to, and not to knock down Starbucks (because I adore Starbucks), but it’s totally more reasonable on the prices, and the coffee is delicious! (and the milkshakes! And the desserts!) Last time I was there I had a peanut butter and jelly milkshake. Sounds gross right? Wrong. It was a great journey for my taste buds. And honestly, since when does great dessert not make someone feel better? Chocolate does release endorphins, after all!

The natural beauty of Washington Park! This is hands down my favorite place in Albany. Beautiful. (Photo taken by Me)

(Oh, and a little promotion: TONIGHT in the Nolan Gymnasium at 8 pm, JAY PHAROAH from SNL is coming to grace us all with his comedic ways! This event is COMPLETELY FREE with your student ID, held by the Student Events Board! I know laughing helps me distress, and this is sure to be a great, fun (and free!) event!
P.S: All thank fellow blogger  Erin Donnelly, comedians chair on SEB, for bringing him here! I don’t know about you, but I am SO excited!
