Tales from the Archives: Boost!

Boost!

from the Saint Rose Archives student publication collection

When visiting an archives, researchers often get pleasantly lost in the many letters, photographs, journals, and publications related to their subject. Archivists are not immune to this! While doing research the other day, I became reacquainted with several issues of Canary Trills. This was the first student publication at Saint Rose. I’d like to share a poem that gives a bit of timeless advice. It was published 90 years ago in the April 1923 issue (click on the poem to see a larger version).

Canary Trills - April 1923

These early publications included poems, short stories, college news, and social calendars. They provide insight into the students and customs of the time. And they are just fun to read. Canary Trills and other student publications can be a nice diversion during the hectic end to the semester. Take a study break and check them out. They are all digitized and online here.
