Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Thanks for the “thanks”

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This Monday we did a giveaway on The College of Saint Rose Facebook page, and we had such an overwhelming response that I wanted to share some of the comments we received for a special Thanksgiving post. This was what we posted to start the contest:

Frankly, I knew we would get comments. Everyone likes free stuff, right? But I certainly didn’t expect so many responses, many of them extremely heartfelt. Please visit our Facebook page to browse all of the responses, but here is just a small sampling of the 161 comments we received:

Susan Bradley Hartney: “I’m thankful for the life of Dr. Margaret Sheppach whose teachings I draw upon everyday!”

Olivia Saha: “I’m thankful for waking up ever morning with a roof over my head and knowing that the people I love are safe and sound.”

Kate Tilli Liebenow: “I’m thankful for my G.I. Bill for college.”

Sam Brewer: “I am thankful for my family and all that they do for me. I would not be where I am today without them.”

Kait Tate: “I’m thankful for financial aid and that everyone is given the opportunity to educate themselves. That doesn’t mean it’s easy for everyone, but it means it’s offered to everyone who is willing to strive for it.”

Mathew Vincent: “I am thankful for all of the people at St. Rose that make me feel at home! It is difficult to live away from home and away from a significant other, but this college and more importantly The College of Saint Rose – Office of Residence Life provide us all with a family atmosphere to get us through!”

Holly Ferraro: “I’m thankful for my wonderful family and friends back home, I’m thankful that I get to speak to my Grandpa every Friday, and that I’ll be able to spend Thanksgiving with him again this year, and I’m thankful to go to such an amazing school and be in The Golden Notes! 🙂:) ”

Paula Dimke LaFerriere: “I am thankful that my daughter transferred to St. Rose….truly a gift to be thankful for!”

Joseph Barcero: “I’m thankful for my friends and family as well as my lovely new gf whose made my semester much easier on me despite how stressful it has been. I’m also thankful for my best friend who has been there for me all year this year particularly and always there to listen and support me. 🙂:) ”    ~Joseph was actually our drawing winner, congrats!

Jacob Barkman: “I’m thankful for my family, my new friends here at college and for the ones that I kept from home. I’m thankful to live in a world surrounded by other unique people and to have unique experiences.”

I didn’t participate in the contest, for obvious reasons, but I wanted to take a personal moment to share my thanks- I’m super thankful this year for the amazing 2012 I’ve had. I finished my first full year as a full-time employee with Saint Rose, in a job that I still feel so lucky to have. I got married to my best friend, and still feel weird saying “husband.” 🙂 And, I also want to send a special thanks to our Saint Rose blog community- our readers, of course, but also to each blogger! Without you this blog would just be my random silliness on occasion. Thank you for sharing your Saint Rose stories!
