Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Time to start blogging!

Blogging has been on my ‘to do’ list for quite a while. How long? Long enough…. Either way, it took a bit of prodding but here I am. First off, hello Saint Rose blog community, passer-byers and visitors! I’ve been an observer and occasional commenter of this blog since its inception and am excited to finally be on this end of the postings.

Me at graduation in both 2009 and 2011 (See any other familiar faces in this photo?)

Allow me to introduce myself…

  • First and probably foremost, I’m a proud double alum of the college. I received my bachelor’s degree from Saint Rose in ’09 for Public Communications and, upon seeking out the advice of some trusted mentors, went right on to grad school here where I earned my master’s in the same program.
  • I grew up in LaGrange, NY, a small town outside of Poughkeepsie. For those of you still lost, it’s about an hour and a half south of Albany. It was a great place to grow up!
  • Right now I live just a few blocks away from Saint Rose and despite what anyone has to say, for this time in my life, I couldn’t think of a better place to live but Albany, NY.
  • Since shortly before I graduated with my master’s I’ve been working for a company called NetLearning in Clifton Park. We sell a learning management system (think Blackboard at Saint Rose) and online courses to healthcare facilities. I’m currently the Associate Marketing Manager where I get to do a little of everything and work with/meet some really cool people. I love it!

I ended up at Saint Rose for a lot of reasons but, with the exception of a mild bout of homesickness first semester freshman year, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I’ve got a lot planned for myself on this blog including, but not limited to, advice on how I got to where I am today and my advice for future job seekers. I feel as though in some ways I got really lucky. But… a lot of that luck came from Saint Rose connections and experiences.  I hope for my experiences, the good and the bad, to help you and for us together to expand the reach of the Saint Rose community.
