Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Top posts & highlights of 2012

What do bloggers do during a slow time of the year such as the holidays? We summarize! Here’s a list of our top five student posts of 2012, along with some other major highlights at the end.

#5. Orientation 2012 Welcome Video…PLUS THE BLOOPERS!!

Every summer Saint Rose has orientation, and every summer a unique set of orientation leaders make each session special. This year’s team put together a video to show as their introduction, and it was a hit each time. Thank you 2012 OL team!

#4. Big Changes on Campus for Fall 2012

The Saint Rose campus landscape definitely transformed this year. Our new apartment-style Centennial Hall officially welcomed it’s first residents in the fall semester. Aside from a new housing option, Centennial also has Provisions on Demand (“POD”) which is essentially a little convenience store, and the Burger Studio. While not a residence, Saint Rose also opened a “home” for business students with the Huether School of Business in the fall semester.

#3. Rose Rock 2012

Rose Rock is definitely a highlight for the student body each year, and a great way for everyone to get together in *hopefully* great weather. We will definitely be doing more with Rose Rock 2013 for the blog, since this is always one of our top search inquiries.

#2. Greetings from the United Kingdom!

We are constantly striving to bring you a diverse set of bloggers, and this year we introduced Sam Crocker from the UK. Sam joined us as a freshman who would play men’s soccer, and interestingly enough, he came to Saint Rose without ever having visited!

#1. Courtney Carr’s College Cribs

Here we have it- our #1 post of 2012! Courtney does a great job of writing about all sorts of subjects, and her post last spring about the different freshman housing options has been a hit. Courtney put together videos highlighting Brubacher, Lima, and Golub to offer first-year students a glimpse of where they might be living. The videos are pretty informative and give a good idea of what each residence is like. That being said, my personal favorite of this batch of videos is actually the blooper reel…

What else did 2012 bring to Saint Rose?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wishing you all a wonderful 2013.
