Update on PROJECT 70

Hi Everybody!  It’s been a while since I’ve talked about my actual internship, so I figured it was time to give some updates.  Work has been busy.  I’ve got multiple projects that take up a lot of my time and I have been attending meetings whenever I’m invited.  The weekly managers meeting is my favorite because I get to hear what each department is doing.  They’re also nice because I have been getting to know the managers before the weekly intern lunches with them.  Sometimes the actual work that I’m doing is stressful.  I know that it’s because the Board of Directors meeting in Ann Arbor, MI is coming up and everyone is working really hard to be ready.

I was thinking about it and my initial interview for this internship was back in March.  It’s crazy to me that it’s already July and my internship is almost over!  The first round of interviews for PROJECT 70 was with Jason Manning, the Director of Alumni Relations at The College of Saint Rose.  On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to catch up with Jason and let him know how everything is going down here.  It’s nice staying connected to the school when I’m away.  I can’t believe that five weeks from today I will be packing my car to move back to Albany for summer RA training!  I’m excited though because I received an e-mail from the Career Center the other day informing me that I won a Visa gift card from filling out the Career Center Evaluation at the end of the spring semester.  My friends and I have always wondered who actually wins the prizes that the offices promise you the chance to win when you fill out surveys!

The rest of my time in DC is going to be busy.  This weekend, my friends and I are celebrating a birthday.  On Sunday, Chris and I are going to Six Flags America!  I’m really excited because it’s been a while since I was at an amusement park.  Next Wednesday, the Office of Government Relations and Public Affairs is taking the interns to tour the Capitol!  Next week, I have been invited to dinner with the daughter of the woman that helped start PROJECT 70.  I’m also excited because one week from Monday, there is a group from Saint Rose coming down to have dinner.  I am slightly nervous too, though, because I’m going to be having dinner with President David Szczerbacki, the VP for Public Relations and Strategic Communications, the Director of Gift Planning (all from The College of Saint Rose), and Jim from the Legal Services Corporation.

My posts for the rest of the summer will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  This will make it easier to post updates since a lot of my upcoming plans are on Mondays and Wednesdays.

As always, thanks for reading!
