Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Jalease Photography

I started Jalease Photography last June as a creative outlet. I love coming up with concepts for photo shoots and directing models. I began to take photography seriously after a family friend made an intriguing deal with me. He promised to donate a lighting system if I could prove that I was “serious about this thing.” By the end of the Summer, I had done three photo shoots and received a great lighting system.

I am still learning new things about my camera and different types of photography. I am really excited to keep learning and become a better photographer.

I have been afforded a number of great opportunities to grow as a photographer at the College of Saint Rose. As a work study student with the office of Public Relations, I take photos of our campus every Friday for our “Photo Fridays.” I am also one of the photographers for Models of the Rose, the 1st annual modeling competition for both males and females.

As a photographer for Models of the Rose, I began working with 11 models that were selected by the committee to take part in the competition. The committee sets up themes for each photo shoot that the models must participate in under the direction of Jocelyn Castillo, the founder of the competition.

Each week one of the models is eliminated. At the end, someone will be named the winner of Models of the Rose. The winner will receive a lot of great prices. Some of them are a surprise, but I can say that he/she will receive a portfolio of their photos from the competition.

On December 8th, Outside the Box held a FEEL GOOD fashion show. The models in the competition were showcased in the event. It was so nice to see them showing their talent at Saint Rose. They walked in a couple of sets including the FUN walk and FORMAL wear.
