Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

One Month Down

….less than eight to go

So far, this semester has been going by EXTREMELY fast. It honestly feels like I’ve only been here a week, but then I realize it’s been a month.  This semester is a lot different, and a lot better than the last.

Last year I came in as a first-year student: confused, disoriented, having no friends, and not knowing what to expect. This year, I came in as a Resident Assistant, ready for a new year, new classes, to see my friends, and to fall right back into place. It’s amazing the feeling you get when everything just feels right; where I am, what I am doing, and who I’m spending my time with.

It’s only been a month and being an RA has been amazing. My residents (all 12 of them) are incredible. Helping them transition to Saint Rose has already helped me become a better leader and more sensitive person. I can’t wait to see how much they grow over the year (no matter how sappy that sounds).

In a couple weeks I’ll be running the Color Me Rad 5k, something I never would have considered a year ago. A year ago I never would have had quite enough confidence to be an RA, yet here I am. I was able to bring the majority of my residents to Reach Out Saint Rose, something I never got the chance to even attend last year (I wound up on crutches the day before).

My last post of last semester, I talked about how much Saint Rose has changed me for the better, and how happy I’ve been since I first came here. Now this may sound like it belongs in a Lifetime movie, but with every day I feel even happier, and I know that Saint Rose is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
