Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

Welcome!

My name is Erin Donnelly and I am a junior majoring in Childhood Education with a concentration in English. I am from Matawan, NJ, which is about 3 hours south of Saint Rose. I have tried to take advantage of all that the college has to offer. I love getting into the classroom and was given my first student to teach at the beginning of this semester. I get to write a unit plan on my own and teach it to her in our weekly field hours, which are held during our class time. I am having a great time watching her learn, but I think I am learning more from her than she is from me!

I keep extremely busy outside of the classroom as a committee chair of the Student Events Board, member of Kappa Delta Pi, committee member of the Late Knight program, and student coordinator for the Saint Anne Mentor program, which is run through the community service office. My experiences with Saint Rose don’t end with my last final exam. After my freshman year, I packed my bags for my first experience abroad. I studied at Regent’s American College of London where I met people from all over the world, saw all the tourist spots in London, and even went on a leadership conference weekend. During that weekend, I saw the Queen herself after staying in one of her homes: the Cumberland Lodge. After sophomore year, I had the privilege of being a freshman orientation leader. I spent a month in a campus house with a group of 11 other orientation leaders who became my second family. I look forward to what next the semester and summer have to offer!
