Get to know Jen Hankin:

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of the job is definitely working with the students and helping them in any way that I can. Every day is always a little bit different so it keeps things interesting. Whether I’m trying to solve a problem, figure out graduation requirements, or just be there to listen, I like to help in any way possible.

What’s something you want students to know about you?

Even though I have worked at Saint Rose for 10 years, I have been working in higher education for 23. I started in admissions and then went into advising about 16 years ago. I have been married to my husband, Jason, for 18 years, but we have been together since we were 17 years old. We have two kids; Will (14) and Natalie (11). Even though my weekends are typically quite chaotic taking my kids to their baseball, softball, basketball, or field hockey games, I love every minute of it!

If you could give students one piece of advice to carry them through their time here, what would it be?

Everyone needs to remember that we create our own opportunities. Good grades result in opportunities for internships, graduate school, or research and then ultimately degree completion. Likewise, a strong work ethic results in promotions and career advancement.
