Bringing It Home – The Saint Rose Blog

What was your favorite Saint Rose 2011 moment?

I write this post knowing that I may very well know the answer (*cough*women’s soccer championship*cough*), but as 2011 comes to a close, it’s worth asking:

What was your favorite Saint Rose moment or memory from 2011?

Maybe you graduated in May? Saw something amazing at the Massry Center? Volunteered through our Community Service Office and found a new ambition? Shaved your head to fight childhood cancer? Maybe you’ve been accepted here and your journey is just beginning? OR maybe it’s something seemingly small that meant a lot to you. Point is, we’d like to know.

Personally/selfishly, my favorite Saint Rose moment this year was getting a job working here, at the very place I had just completed my MA from and that I’ve gotten to know over the past two years. Not only was I able to get a job in tough economic times, but I got one working for a place I love.

Your turn…

One of my favorite memories of Saint Rose in 2011 was definitely Saint Baldrick’s Day! Seeing just how passionate my fellow students are was an amazing experience. And not only making, but exceeding our fundraising goal was definitely inspiring! It was great to see such a fantastic event become so successful.

My other favorite memory isn’t actually one memory, but an entire month’s worth of amazing times with eleven of my Saint Rose peers. I was afforded the amazing opportunity to be an Orientation leader this year and it was an experience that I will never forget. The friendships I made with my fellow leaders and with the current freshmen class are unforgettable. Plus, what other group of 12 people can say that they flash-mobbed in a bowling alley on a random Tuesday afternoon? OL2011 <3

Kait- The St. Baldrick’s event this year was a HUGE success, not that I needed to tell you that. You should be very proud of your hard work and dedication to such a great cause!

Kait’s comment reminded me of my other favorite memory from 2011- which was actually last academic year. In the spring semester of 2011 I traveled with Kait and about 20 others through the Saint Rose Community Service Office to New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina clean-up. It would take a whole post(s) to describe how amazing that experience was. I’m going back this year!
